The Mario Kart Race will be happening again this summer at Lakeshore State Park on Saturday, July 21st.
This time we will be raising money for the BMEF (Bicycle Messenger Emergency Fund). The Bicycle Messenger Emergency fund is a non profit organization that provides emergency compensation to bicycle messengers who are hurt on the job. Currently the BMEF allocates a $300 (Euro, Can, Lbs, USD etc..) emergency cheque to help messengers anywhere in the world during the first week of injury. This provides a boost, to both the financial and the mental/emotional state of the injured messenger. The goal is to help the injured cope and recover.
Last year turned out pretty awesome and was tons of fun, so expect this year to be better!
We will meet up at Lakeshore Park around 11:30am-noon so everyone can get signed up and choose their numbers, maybe take a few practice laps and learn the rules. Registration is $10 to race, and races start around 12:30-1pm.
The afterparty will be at Hotel Foster after the winners are announced and prizes are given out at Lakeshore Park. At the afterparty, we will have a raffle, the tickets will be sold/given out during the race.
